Investigative Journalists & Researchers
Investigative Journalist
George Knapp
KLAS-TV Las Vegas · Host, Weaponized Podcast
The dean of UAP journalism. Knapp broke the Bob Lazar story in 1989, introducing the world to claims of reverse-engineered craft at Area 51, and has spent nearly four decades investigating with sourced, evidence-led rigour. He co-hosts the Weaponized podcast with Jeremy Corbell and has cultivated sources across the intelligence and military communities for decades. In 2025 he testified directly before a House UAP subcommittee hearing, and was present when never-before-seen footage of a Hellfire missile failing to damage a UAP was shown on camera — remarking simply: "What the hell is that?"

Investigative Journalist
Ross Coulthart
NewsNation · Host, Reality Check
An Australian Gold Walkley Award-winning journalist who initially set out to write a debunking book and instead concluded the phenomenon was real after interviewing "national security establishment, intelligence officers, military people who'd served in multiple presidential administrations — all telling me the same thing." He delivered the first exclusive TV interview with whistleblower David Grusch in June 2023, and in January 2025 broke the Jake Barber crash-retrieval whistleblower story on NewsNation. His book In Plain Sight and his weekly show Reality Check have made him the most consistently prominent UAP journalist currently operating in mainstream television.

Filmmaker · Journalist
Jeremy Corbell
Co-Host, Weaponized · Extraordinary Beliefs Films
Filmmaker and journalist who has leaked and contextualised several of the most significant UAP videos to enter public circulation — including the "Sphere," "Pyramid," and "Acorn" UAP footage. Works in close partnership with George Knapp on the Weaponized podcast. Corbell has also drawn attention to cases of institutional retaliation against military witnesses and pushed hard for protection of sources. His willingness to release raw material and then stand publicly behind it has made him a polarising but undeniably impactful figure.

Investigative Journalist · Author
Leslie Kean
New York Times · Independent
The journalist most directly responsible for placing UAP into the mainstream news cycle. Kean co-authored the December 2017 New York Times investigation that revealed the existence of AATIP, the Pentagon's secret UAP programme — a story widely credited as the turning point for modern institutional disclosure. Her 2010 book UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record was a landmark work that brought high-credibility witnesses to a general audience for the first time. She also conducted key early reporting on Grusch's allegations.

Military Witnesses
Retired Military Pilot
Commander David Fravor (Ret.)
U.S. Navy · F/A-18F Super Hornet · USS Nimitz
Primary witness to the 2004 "Tic Tac" UAP encounter during USS Nimitz operations — arguably the single most credible military pilot sighting in the public record. Fravor, a decorated combat veteran, described an object with no visible propulsion that outmanoeuvred his aircraft and showed capabilities far beyond any known technology. The encounter was corroborated by other crew, radar operators, and eventually the release of the FLIR1 video. He testified before Congress in July 2023, lending significant credibility to the hearings. His account has never been credibly debunked and remains the gold-standard case in modern UAP discourse.

Former Navy F/A-18 Pilot
Ryan Graves
Founder, Americans for Safe Aerospace
The first active-duty military pilot to come forward to Congress about repeated UAP encounters. Graves and his squadron observed unidentified objects — capable of hovering in hurricane-force winds and then accelerating to supersonic speeds — off the U.S. East Coast every day for multiple years. He founded Americans for Safe Aerospace to provide a professional, non-stigmatising channel for pilots to report encounters. His willingness to go on the record opened the door for other aviators.

U.S. Air Force Veteran
Dylan Borland
USAF Geospatial Intelligence · Whistleblower
Air Force veteran and geospatial intelligence specialist who testified before the House UAP subcommittee in 2025 about a 2012 encounter with a large triangular craft at Langley AFB that allegedly disabled electronics and interfered with communications. Borland also alleged subsequent retaliation, adding his voice to a growing body of testimony about institutional suppression of witnesses within the military. His account of the "black triangle" incident drew significant attention to legacy UAP incidents that were never officially reported up the chain.

Scientists & Academic Researchers
Academic Scientist
Dr. Garry Nolan
Professor of Pathology, Stanford University · Co-Founder, Sol Foundation
One of the most credentialled scientists to publicly engage with UAP research. Holder of 50+ biotechnology patents and author of over 300 research papers, Nolan's entry into the field came when the CIA approached him to examine neurological data from pilots and intelligence officers who had experienced close-range UAP encounters — many with unexplained brain injuries. He has since applied Stanford's Mass Cytometry by Time-of-Flight (MIBI) imaging technology to analyse alleged UAP material samples, finding anomalous isotope ratios in some specimens that do not conform to natural terrestrial compositions. He co-founded the Sol Foundation to create a serious academic framework for UAP study, and continues to advocate for rigorous, peer-reviewed analysis as the only credible path forward. His work sits at the rare intersection of institutional credibility and genuine openness.

Intelligence Officials & Government Insiders
Whistleblower
David Grusch
Former USAF Intelligence Officer · UAP Task Force
The whistleblower who most dramatically changed the political landscape of UAP disclosure. A decorated intelligence officer and member of the Pentagon's UAP Task Force, Grusch filed an official whistleblower complaint with the Inspector General and then testified under oath to Congress in July 2023 — alleging that the U.S. government runs multi-decade covert programmes to retrieve and reverse-engineer non-human craft, and has recovered what he described as "non-human biologics." His testimony triggered bipartisan legislative action, accelerated the push for UAP-specific whistleblower protections, and forced AARO to address his claims directly. He continues to advise on transparency measures as of 2025–2026.

Former Pentagon Official
Luis "Lue" Elizondo
Former Director, AATIP · DoD Counterintelligence
The figure who launched the modern disclosure era. Elizondo ran the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) from 2010 and resigned in 2017 in protest, immediately passing three now-famous UAP videos to journalist Leslie Kean — leading directly to the landmark New York Times exposé. Since then he has advocated loudly for government transparency, citing serious national security implications. His 2024 memoir Imminent provided detailed accounts of what he claims to have witnessed inside government UAP programmes. Senator Harry Reid confirmed Elizondo's central leadership role in AATIP.

Whistleblower
Jake Barber
U.S. Air Force Veteran · Contractor · Crash Retrieval Witness
The most significant new whistleblower to emerge in 2025. In a NewsNation special hosted by Ross Coulthart — "Hunting UFOs: The Crash Retrieval Whistleblower" — Barber claimed to have spent 30 years working in both official and unofficial capacities for the U.S. government and intelligence community, including direct participation in crash retrieval of non-human craft. He described recovering an egg-shaped object and alleged that the government's UAP Task Force had internally confirmed the technology was not human-made. NewsNation verified his Air Force service record before broadcast. The Pentagon's AARO confirmed it was actively investigating his claims. He went public in part, he said, to protect himself from retaliation.

Legislators & Political Advocates
U.S. Representative
Anna Paulina Luna
R-FL · House UAP Transparency Task Force (Chair)
One of the most active legislators on UAP transparency, Luna chairs the House task force on UAP disclosure and has pushed aggressively for whistleblower protections, including the UAP Whistleblower Protection Act. She has held major hearings, called for broad declassification, and has spoken publicly about her own military-adjacent experiences with UAP. Luna has framed the issue as a matter of constitutional oversight — arguing that Congress has been deliberately bypassed by legacy programmes operating without accountability.

U.S. Representative
Tim Burchett
R-TN · House Oversight Committee
One of the longest-serving and most consistently outspoken Congressional advocates for UAP transparency. Burchett has been raising the issue since before the 2023 hearings and has made little attempt to soften his position — stating plainly that he believes the government is hiding something. He chaired or participated in multiple UAP oversight hearings and personally attended and commented on the April 2025 hearing where footage of a Hellfire missile failing to damage an orb was shown. Has confirmed plans to discuss the matter directly with President Trump.

Former U.S. Senator (D-NV)
Harry Reid
Former Senate Majority Leader · AATIP Sponsor
The political architect of modern government UAP research. Reid was the driving force behind AATIP — the $22 million Pentagon programme that eventually led to the 2017 disclosures — and consistently defended Elizondo's role within it against DoD pushback. Until his death in 2021, Reid remained one of the few senior political figures to advocate publicly for serious UAP investigation, calling it a legitimate national security matter and stating his belief that Lockheed Martin may have held physical UAP materials.

International Figures
Former Government Official
Nick Pope
UK Ministry of Defence · UFO Desk (1991–1994)
Britain's most prominent government-credentialled UAP figure. Pope ran the UK MoD's UFO investigation desk from 1991 to 1994 — internally called "the most interesting job in the country" — and investigated hundreds of cases, including the landmark 1980 Rendlesham Forest incident. He oversaw the eventual release of 60,000+ pages of UK UFO files under Freedom of Information, and became a prolific author and media commentator who provided crucial international context to the disclosure movement for three decades. Pope died in April 2026 at age 60, leaving a significant legacy as the credible institutional voice bridging the UK and US disclosure communities.
